A pre-bankability model and funding framework for a greenfield tin smelter

Project finance model and funding framework for a greenfield tin smelting facility

    The situation

A greenfield tin smelting facility in West Africa, at the stage where the sponsor had a technical plan and a resource story but nothing a lender could underwrite.

    The constraint

Smelting economics live or die on concentrate supply and treatment charges — two variables that move independently and are frequently modelled as if they don't. A model that assumes stable feedstock at a stable TC/RC is not a bankable model; it's a brochure.

    What Zenith built

A project finance model built to lender standards: capex phasing, concentrate feed assumptions, treatment and refining charge economics, recovery rates, and working capital through the ramp.

A funding framework across the debt stack, sized to sculpted cash flows.

Scenario analysis across tin price, concentrate availability, and processing recovery.

The financial architecture required for bankability review and investor engagement.

    The transferable point

Pre-bankability work is cheaper than a failed process. Most sponsors discover which assumptions they can't defend during diligence. It is considerably better to discover it beforehand.
